Recent Grant Awards
The Depot Foundation has awarded a total of $140,511 since July 1, 2010.
- $3,500 to the Arrowhead Chorale for family oriented concerts featuring the Chorale and the Lake Superior Youth Chorus.
- $35,500 to the Duluth Art Institute for a three month project focusing on regional women in the “art forms embedded in the profession of advertising”. The project will culminate in an exhibit featuring regional women in the advertising arts, which will be shown with a traveling exhibit from New York City featuring the archives of Esther Bubbley, a regional (Superior, Wisconsin) pioneer in photojournalism.
- $12,500 to the Duluth Children’s Museum for a project entitled “One Step Back; Two Steps Forward”. The project combines creates a new exhibit with a combination of such exhibits as The Body Shop, Tuning Up Your Teeth and Bones; The Shoes We Use; and Medieval Castle.
- $29,725 for programmatic support to the Duluth Playhouse for: White Christmas; Chicago, Into the Woods; Alfred Hitchcock’s 39 Steps; the Holiday Open House (held in conjunction with the opening night of White Christmas); a collaborative effort with the Railroad Museum entitled The Boxcar Children; and several other projects.
- $5000 to the St Louis County Historical Society to create a museum quality cabinet for the Priley Woodcarving exhibit.
- $12,155 for the new acoustic system in the Great Hall.
From the Prindle/Wood Family Memorial Endowment: $2094 to the Minnesota Ballet for Dance Day at the Depot. The funds will be used to defray expenses for dresses and silk flowers for Ballet VII students.
From the Muriel Whiteside Charitable Trust: $31,363 for programmatic support for the Duluth Playhouse productions as mentioned above.
