Upfront:
A letter from Chair Neale Roth
“The Times They Are a-Changin’,” the title of one of Bob Dylan’s most well-known songs accurately describes your Depot Foundation. During my predecessor Ken Schoen’s tenure, we drastically reduced expenses and significantly increased our grant making. By the end of our current fiscal year, grants totaling $126,325 will have been distributed (see the back page). During my tenure, we have focused on providing grants supporting projects, performances and programs that enrich the visitor experience at the Depot, and have provided funding for building and grounds improvements making it a place people are eager to visit. Read Dick Fischer’s article on Page 2 “Excitement at the Depot.” Then visit the Depot (take note of the southwest side of the building) and experience the changes firsthand.
Grant details are found on the back page along with the wonderful photo of father and daughter actors John and Jen Bergum, who demonstrate the fencing skills acquired through training provided, in part, by a Depot Foundation grant to the Duluth Playhouse (in support of “The Three Musketeers”).
Before you leave this issue of Expressions, consider submitting a nomination for a Depot Foundation Arts and Culture Award, as suggested by Jean Olson on Page 3.
All of this is made possible by your continued generous financial support. Yes, “The Times They Are a-Changin” - thanks to you and the hard-working people who are the Depot community.
